ABOUT MAGGIE COCHRANE
My guiding principle is to facilitate the overcoming of barriers that prevent the enjoyment of life.
My private practise in Blairgowrie is founded on a background of many years as a professional trainer, management consultant, coach and counsellor in the public and charitable sectors. I seek to offer a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space to explore what will work for each unique situation. A life-long interest in creativity for recreation and personal therapy adds an extra dimension for clients who want this. This creative option offers support to those who find activities easier than words for expressing their feelings.
In addition to nearly 20 years in the personal development industry, I maintain ethical and professional standards by holding a COSCA Diploma in Counselling, COSCA Certifiate in Supervision, and I am a BACP registrant, both recognised by The Professional Standards Authority for Scotland and the UK.
COUNSELLING
Issues that undermine our capacity to cope are diverse and can be complex. It is wonderful to see clients transform from being painfully overwhelmed to feeling able to cope with the challenges in their life. These are the areas where I now specialise:
Anxiety
Bereavement and loss
Depression
Lack of confidence
Low self-esteem
Relationship challenges
Stress
COACHING
I am an experienced facilitator of both individuals and groups who seek a coaching environment to work through challenging situations towards agreed objectives. For the past decade most clients have been managers seeking a coach or mentor who will help them enhance performance personally and within their team or teams of managers. More recently owners of small businesses have benefitted from making space to work through their current situation and clarify their way forward.
WELL-BEING WORKSHOPS
Sometimes we can find healing, comfort, and be energised by using creative processes, paint, art materials, and natural resources to express what we find hard to express in words. To help in this area, alongside my 1-1 consultations, small group activities can be arranged on request.
SUPERVISION FOR COUNSELLORS AND COACHES
From my integrative training that weaves psychodynamic, transactional analysis and CBT tools into the client process, my approach has become more pluralistic. This allows the client to be in control of what we work on and how we proceed. It also provides a breadth of experience for supporting counsellors and coaches looking for supervision.
